HAVE YOU SIGNED UP YET? | |
The Local Leadship decided that all members must be signed up by now! Any one not signed up for automatic dues deductions, set up a bill pay account,(see below), or prepaid 6mo or more by check *******will now suffer monetary penaltys if they want to rejoin the local.******
It was decided to waive our rejoining fee by the membership at our last meeting!!! signup now so you don't lose your representation rights and won't have to pay the fee. This is only for a limited time don't wait! If you haven't signed up yet, it's still better a little late than later! The fastest and most easyest way is to follow this link :https://wseu.wisconsinunionstrong.org/apply/en/5f5bea28-9913-4045-99ae-592b7277a4b4
it will take you to a secure website that you can use to sign up. You need a Credit card, or bank account number, and bank routing number to do it.
If the link above doesn't work, go to the Council 24 website and click on the join the fight link.
If you want to pay by check: you need to fill out the application form and submit that with your check to council 24 direct, or give it to a officer of the local. Clik on the Join The Fight Forms link on the bottom left edge of this page, download and print the form titled join the fight signup . If you can't access it or don't have a printer, call your steward or local officer and have them get you the form right away.
WHAT IS BILL PAY? It's where you set up a check that comes from your checking account that goes to Council 24 every two weeks. If you want that option you need to setup a bill pay at your financial intitution, and still need to send in the form filled out. here's the link that way explains how that works:http://www.wseu-24.org/jointhefight_billpay.html
After you have signed up, a few weeks later,
OUR LOCAL TREASURER WILL THEN BE CONTACTING YOU TO INFORM YOU HOW TO PAY YOUR PENALTY AND LAPSED DUES.
Don't get caught in a problem at work and not have a union steward to guide you through those troubled waters. Sign up NOW!

ABOUT LOCAL 1218 | | Local 1218 represents Wisconsin Deptartment of Natural Resource employees in Technical, Blue Collar, Security and Public Safety, and Administrative Support classifications. The wardens are represented by Local 1215. We strive for better wages, hours, and working conditions thru discussions with management. We represent members who have a grievance with management.
We are a democratically run membership organization. Semi-annual meetings are held in late Winter, and Early Fall. We currently have six Chapters. Chapter meetings are typically held 2-3 times per year. The best way to ensure that the union represents your views is to become a member and participate in meetings. That’s where decisions are made.
|
REPRESENTED EMPLOYEES RIGHTS | | | The agreement (our contract) states what wages, benefits, rights, and responsibilities we have, and what rights and responsibilities management has. Act 10 did change some things namely the retirement and dues deduction by the state. however we have what has been called DYNAMIC STATUS QUO lawyer talk that means that the rest of the contract remains inforce untill the new compensation plan put out by the state is approved and voted on. So in themean time, both the union and the state are obliged to obey this agreement. If your supervisor violates our contract, you can file a grievance to force them to correct the problem. One of our rights under the contract is the right to file a grievance on work time and to have a steward present during any disciplinary or investigatory meeting with management if you believe disciplinary action may result from the meeting
|
HOW TO CONTACT A STEWARD? | | | If you feel your contractual rights have been violated, tell your supervisor that you want to meet with your steward "about a possible grievance." Stewards are trained in the contract, and will be able to give your problem the attention it needs. Your supervisor doesn’t have the right to ask you why, and must set up a private meeting in a timely manner on work time (In paid status). Ideally, and whenever possible, these meetings should be scheduled for the next day after the request is made when both employees are scheduled to work. However, it is understood that this is not always possible due to real operational needs. If your supervisor tells you to set up the meeting yourself and says no steward is available, got to the Contact Us page and phone any of the Executive Officers for further instruction. The Contact Us page also lists Local 1218 stewards.
